  1. Media Literacy has taught me how to spot the different photoshopped areas in a magazine and perhaps predict what it was like before the change. I have also learned how magazines cause people to buy things that they do not really need or want in strange ways. Now, instead of being amazed by a cool magazine, i try to spot the things that have been changed and added to make the advertisement look even better than before.

  2. Media Literacy has taught me how to differentiate diferent magazines/newspapers and what is the actual products the magazines/newspapers is selling. It also taught me that actually differnt colours have differnet meanings like using bright colours means the matter is not so serious but usuing dull colours is serious news.I think that using bright colours or nice phtoshot pictures can actually cause many people to buy it.Although some of the news or article is not important or people do not need it, they will still buy it. Media literacy has really help us to spot things carefully. Now, when i buy things, i will also try to spot things that have been changed and thus , exceeding my vision of looking at a magazine.

  4. I think media literacy is interesting and useful. It is also a new subject to me.Media Literacy teaches me how to identify photoshopped pictures and also it will teach me how to do photoshop in future.I think those magazines which are selling now,the pictures are being photoshopped. To me,I do not think that having pictures photoshopped in magazines will attract me to buy as I wanted it to be natural. But i think those companies want the magazines to be photoshopped as the models not perfect enough and wanted he or she to be more bauetiful in the magazine.Another thing is,in this world most people will buy things only it is nice,so maybe this is the reason why those companies want the magazines to be like this as they want to earn money.Anyway,I do not buy and read magazines. 7. Media Literacy has thought me how to read magazine covers like what is it selling. It has also thought me that the pictures in the magazine are not always what it seems. They photoshoped the picture to make it look more appealling as to attract more buyers. I also learnt that colour is very important in a magazine as it tells the buyer what the important things are in that magazine.

  9. Media Literacy has taught me how to differentiate a real and a phtoshopped photo. Many photos have been edited and phtoshopped to attract more buyers. The companies will try to make the model more perfect, so as to make more people buy their product. Now, I will try to identify those pictures that have been photoshopped and would think twice before purchasing the product.

  10. I think that with media literacy I am now starting to look at the magazines differently. I now know that most magazines models uses Photoshop to edit their models. I now also know that bright colors are usually used for unimportant news and dark colors are used for important news. I also know that the picture at the cover of the magazines has usually some relationship with the topic the magazines is trying to focus on.

  11. I had learnt how to look at magazines from a different point of view now. I now know that most of the time, the photos in the magazines are photoshopped. From the graphics and the colours used in the magazine, i also learnt how to tell what the magazine is trying to sell. From now on, whenever i look at a magazine, i will think twice before buying it and consider the things that they say in the magazine and not assume that everything is true

  12. Media literacy had changed my views of looking at pictures in magazines differently. Now, whenever i looked at pictures in magazines, i knew that they were photoshopped in order to be more appealing to attract buyers to buy them. I have also learnt that colours used in the cover page of magazines have different 'purposes'.For instane, bright colours is ususlly used for not important news.Conversly, dark or dull colours are usually used for more important news.Media literacy is interesting and fun!!

  13. I learnt there is more than meets the cover on the magazines. Now, instead of going ,"Wow!!, that is sooooo cool!!!!!" when i see a magazine cover, I become all skeptical and go,"I bet it's fake!" I also know that the colours on magazine cover indicate the seriousness of the topics the magazines discuss. For example, a kids magazine will have bright and cheerful colours like yellow and orange. Conversely, a news or financial magazine, will hake dark and murky colours. Black and metallic colours represent the future and gadgets.

  15. Last time, before I had even learnt about photoshop, I always thought that the people featured in the magazines' cover pages were a natural beauty. I always admired them. I also had the desire to be like them. Then, I had this class. It is none other than Media Literacy in Jurong Secondary School. Then that was when I knew about people using photoshop to enhance the beauty of the person's picture featured on the magazines' cover page. I also learnt that people do not buy products because they really want to. They thought that the product is very effective so it would worth their money to buy them. Actually, they do not the real truth behind it all. I also learnt about the colours used for magazines. Magazines for kids are usually bright and colourful, attracting the young's attention. While the more "serious-type" of magazine is not usually very colourful. It depends on what the theme is. Some words are being delibrately enlarged to catch the reader's attention. So it's like you walk past a magazine stall casually and you glance past it. Then you see the enlarged words more easily. Then it will catch our attention and if we are interested, we would go and buy it

  16. Media Literacy taught me about deconstructing a photo or a picture. I now know how and/or to improve photos or pictures through the photos Mr Lam had showed us. Also, I somehow knows which part of the photos or pictures is edited. I also realised the great differences photoshop can do on a photo or picture.

  17. Media literacy taught me that not all magazines cover are 'true'. Well, they are edited. I had always wanted to look as beautiful models on the magazine covers. Now i wouldnt think of that again, those models were equally ugly if those photos arent photoshoped. I also learnt what colours are usually use to different kinds of feelings.

  19. Media Literacy has taught me how to differenciate edited photos from real ones. It can really be shocking when you see the original photo after the edited one. Its really different! Now, when my mother buys magazines, I would remind her to think twice about it. Women can really go crazy about slimming down like the celebrities on magazine covers.

  23. I'm now able to spot the difference in magazines for example, i'll think more if what i see is what is true. It taught me that there's a link between the colours and what the magazine are about. For example, a technology magazine will have colours like black, gold etc.
It shows how photoshop editing can really help perfect the features of someone.
Now, whenever i watch advertisements, magazines etc, i can see it from a different perspective.

  24. Media literacy has taught me to identify the difference between a real-life image and a photo shopped picture, and that not all magazine cover's picture is natural. It has also let me know what different kinds of colours represent. For teens and kids magazine, it usually uses bright colours, as it can attract kids attention and it means that is not serious. For magazines which contain serious information, it uses dull colours.

  26. Media Literacy taught me methods or strategies that can be used when using photoshop and creating the magazines cover.
The colour of the magazines, font, pictures affect the whole magazine. If the title of the magazine is in a certain colour, you will be able to find some words in that certain colour as to express that it is the main idea of having this magazine, what they are promoting. The colour of the picture will give the impression of what will be promoting, like if the company is selling some facial products, the person in the picture will have beautiful and bright-coloured skin.
The sizes of the words on the magazines also matters. If the font size of some words is bigger than the rest, it is to attract people's attention with the size and the text in the magazine will be mainly about the words that are sized bigger.

  27. Media literacy has taught me how to define the colours used on the front page of a magazine and how is it associated to the theme, title of magazine like bold, metallic colours is associated to electronic devices, brightly colours are kind of 'fun'and so on and to which people does it appeal to,how does the size, positioning and proportion of the pictures or words effect the whole cover or the 'mood','feel' and theme and how do they use creative and catchy phrases to attract people to buy the magazine.

  28. Media Literacy has taught me how to recognise photoshopped pictures and the reasons behind the colour scheme used in magazines. I can now know why they chose it and why they choosed to photoshop the pictures. It has also taught me why they used different sizes of text to differ their topics.

  29. It has taught me how to differentiate the actual photo than the photoshopped ones. I also now know that everything on the magazine cover is planned and nothing that is put there, whether it is the colour, size, photo, etc, is put without purpose. All of it must have a certain effect towards the intended buyers.

  32. Media Literacy has taught me that not every thing we see in magazines and other forms of media is real. Photos in magazines are mostly photoshopped and media literacy has taught me to differentiate a photoshopped image from one that is not. Magazines also uses colours, size of certain objects and creative languages to attract the buyer to buy the magazine. I also learnt that the "facts" in the magazines are judged by the reporter themselves so not everything is true. =)

  35. Media Lieracy has taught me what the colours on the magazines represents, how to differenciate a REAL photo from a photoshop one. I also learn that the colours and size on the magazines covers are used to attract different "consumers", like pink for romance ect. I also felt that the photo on the magazines cover, which are photoshop to attract customers are just "scams", sometimes, I wonder why people will be so stupid to believe it. I also found out that, not all the models or actors/actress are really that beautiful as they are photoshop.

  36. 37. I have learnt to not believe what i see on the magazines and on adcertisements. It has also lead me to think wheter or not the models that i see in a magazine have been photoshopped. I have also learnt why magazines are using certain colours , like to express what they are meaning,to bring out the mood or to represent something.Bigger fonts are to attract the readers attention, exclaimation marks are too. I now know how to differentiate a real photo, from one that has been phtoshopped., by seeing which is more or less perfect, as photoshop is to make people closer to perfection, or perfection itself in peoples' eyes.I know who are the magazine's intended consumers buyin seeing who or what is written on the front cover.Zac Efron and ashley tisdale on the magzine cover ,means that the magazine is talking about High School Musical, or a model wearing something sleek posing with a gadget in hand ,means that the magazine is introducing more about gadgets.

  39. I have learnt no to be tricked by all those fake magazine covers. I have also learnt that colours are also used to attract our attention. And when they put a picture of two celebrities together in one that magazine should have something in it about those two having an affairs.

  41. I have learnt that magazine covers can be edited by photoshop. Offers like slimming pills cannot be trusted as the model may be photoshoped. The next time when i buy a magazine i must not believe what the magazine says(Only for the pictures) as they can be edited using photoshop. I have also learnt what photoshop can do. It can make a person slimmer, the skin tone of the person and the hair of the person.

  42. Media Literacy has taught me how the colour scheme on the cover of a magazine can change the look. For example, a teen magazine may be filled with bright colours to attract teenagers, and to also give a 'chic' feel. I have also learnt that Metallic colours are mostly used for magazines directed at adults as it gives it a sophisticated look.
On the cover, there is also the title of the articles inside and a brief introduction about the article and what it is about. Most magazines make the brief introduction as interesting as possible in order to grasp the reader's attention and buy the magazine to find out more.
The size of words also determines the emphasis on the particular text, and for most magazines, the bigger the text, the more stress on the text there is

  44. It increased my ability to construct a magazine cover by teaching me that the pictures of pretty and handsome may not be true, it may be photoshoped in some ways. Example, through photoshop, tones of the skin can be change. The size of the different body parts or even the size of the eyes, nose, mouth could also be changed. Another example is that hundreds of mans may not have 6 patch but one has but through photoshop, the six patch of the one could be cut and pasted on the hundreds who do not has it. So by then, all of them would have their 6 patch on but it would only be in the picture and this tells me that a person could have the dream look of his/her on a picture but may not have it in real life. After going through the lesson, whenever I see handsome on a photo, I will ask myself: Is what I am seeing in the picture real, I may also look like the person on the picture if I spent some time photoshoping my own picture.

  45. media literacy has thaught me to me more careful when looking at models at magazine covers andnot take extreme measures to look like the model on the magazine cover.now i will think twice before buying a magazine as i may not find anything useful in the magazine and there may be gossips instead.i have also learnt that words that are in dark colours are trying to tell us thing the highlight of the magazine and that models that appear on magazine covers are photoshopped to enhance their appearence.
